Antifluoridation propaganda found on a street sign in Glen Park, San Francisco. Designed to plant seeds of doubt in the unwary, ill-informed and/or those unable to distinguish disinformation from official notices.
Note the effaced infowars URL. Is this scratched out to render the sign even more believable? Either way, this seems like an effective scaremongering tactic. Evil stuff.
paul beard perhaps a lower incidence of cancer, Nazism and apathy? Probably not. Worse teeth, more likely.
ReplyDeletesf water also has unusually high concentrations of dihydrogen monoxide.

ReplyDeletepaul beard Lev Osherovich with modern, fluoridated toothpaste, there's probably no difference for people who take care of their teeth.
ReplyDeleteAh! Was this Peter Sellers?
ReplyDeleteI think I'm pinkly aware.
My scarlet tends towards Being There.
Jerzy Kosinski was my favorite author, as a kid.
Even got to speak to him, once or twice.
Blamed myself for his suicide, natch.
Not my fault, I know.

Thank you, gents, for the clarification...
Johnathan Gross assuming that fluoride-wary Portlanders actually use modern toothpaste...
ReplyDeleteLev Osherovich assuming fluoride-wary Portlandians drink municipal water
ReplyDeleterare avis yes, Peter Sellers and he was brilliant in Being There as well. "I like to watch." I feared that we were going to get a real life Chauncey Gardener in the form of Ben Carson. However, Dr. Strangelove is my favorite film. And anytime fluoridation gets brought up I trot out the "precious bodily fluids" quote.

ReplyDeleteActually, I've read a bit, on the side, not too well, that challenged that assumption.
The bit I recall indicated that exposure to flouridated water at one's most tender ages had an ameliorative impact, several decades later.

And that in terms of Public Health, even delayed exposure wound up being statistically significant.

Whether they brushed and flossed as recommended? No idea...
Can a study ascertain these details?

ReplyDeleteThank you for your generosity of spit spirit.
I'm not politically inclined; but it occurs to me that Vapid==Carson while Vapid != Chauncey
In any case; I've heard you're not alone.
Celebrated film; I somehow? Never got around to worshiping it.
I may be readier; sooner rather than later...
D. Luria I've seen "Graffiti Against Racism". Apparently we need "Graffiti Against Ignorance" as well. Just add the words "Say Idiots" below the message.
ReplyDeleteAll these points apply to plain old carbon. Somebody has just mislabelled the notice.
ReplyDeleteNeeds a big red WTF stamp.
ReplyDeleteThe real concern here is that the Sodium Fluoride is mixed with DHMO (Dihydrogen Monoxide). DHMO (which has caused innumerable deaths either gas, liquid, or solid form) is still an allowed component in most municipality's drinking water--even in Portland. http://dhmo.org/
ReplyDeleteBrent Noorda wow, thanks for alerting us to the dangers of DHMO. Really scary. There ought to be a mandatory label for anything that contains it. People have a Right to Know!
ReplyDeleteThe DHMO is pure poison, especially if mixed with large amounts of alcohols or as a solid added to iced tea.
